Late game[]

Tips[]

In the end-game the primary challenge is generating sufficient Fuels to power the Sand Pumps required to drain away the tide of Sesamite Sand pouring in from the roof of the caverns. This task is relatively trivial on L12 (PT Sierra) but becomes increasingly difficult, peaking on L14 and then getting easier again. L14 breaks many people due to the decreasing effectiveness of the Sand Pumps and the increasing rate of Sesamite Sand ingress. Be careful to use the Omniseeker To find all the fragments and upgrades on each level as well as following the story sections located by PT Sierra. Some of the upgrades and located places gate progress in the game.

Once a level is completely cleared of all items you may choose to stop pumping away the sand and allow it to refill. Don't do this if you are not certain, as re-excavating a level is very frustrating (I did L14 3 times).

The other issue with L12+ is the inability to conduct power from levels L1-11. This means setting up a new grid in these levels which have no water and therefore no ability to use the Water Wheel to drive the Crank Generator and Crank Generator MKII. Fortunately some of the recipes from the Crusher that is located on L13 (Archive) can be used to generate large amounts of Electrical Power which can be kept in the Accumulator. The power generated this way can power limited numbers of machines which means it becomes easier to do much of the production on the lower levels (L1-11) and then bring it up via the Freight Elevator and only perform the final stages of fuel generation on the sand levels.

The game advises moving away from Biobrick towards Biobrick Diesel (Unrefined) and Biobrick Diesel (Pure). This is not bad advice but it is quite possible to supply up to 4 Sand Pumps using the synthesis.Sierra.T1.Mass Production (Biobrick) recipe. This only requires very low levels of Carbon Powder Brick (1x) and Sesamite Gel (2x) (half those per minute) to make Biobrick (500x). Fully upgraded Biobrick (synthesis.Victor.T3+.BioDense I-V) will work. The Sesamite Sand from the Sand Pump can be used in the Crusher with the science.Sierra.T3.Sesamite Sand Filtration recipe to generate power for the Assembler MKII, Crusher and handlers required to make this work. This setup allows pods of 4 Sand Pumps with local generation.

Alternatively you can use the science.Sierra.T1.Biobrick Diesel (Sesamite Base) recipe to generate the more efficient Biobrick Diesel (Unrefined) which can power more Sand Pumps but needs more Assembler MKII and more power. Or you can make Biobrick Diesel (Pure) on the lower levels. Just be prepared for the Logistics involved in transporting all the Fuels through the Freight Elevator.

Most of the sand levels L12-L16 are great for building factories because they are quite large and open, however the lack of a reliable and large scale Electrical Power network means that any factory will only run for 1 hour before the Crank Generators require winding. This therefore limits the usefulness of these levels. If you do plan to use them it is probably best to not link any Sand Pump machines to the power from the Crank Generator as this may lead to frustration when the whole pumping system goes down after an hour.

In the end-game there is only one item that is exhaustible and that is Scrap Ore. This means that the supply of Gold Ore is limited (albeit quite large). If you plan to make lots of Research Core 590nm (Yellow) then some management of this resource maybe required.

Metal ores can be generated in the Ingots loop and Slabs loop.

Limestone, Limestone Brick, Kindlevine Extract and Kindlevine Extract Brick can be generated from Kindlevine

Shiverthorn Extract and Shiverthorn Extract Gel can be generated from Shiverthorn

Kindlevine Seed, Shiverthorn Seed and Sesamite Seed can be generated from the Seed multiplication loop

Sesamite Crystal can be created from Sesamite and Sesamite Sand

Key Technologies[]

Best factory levels[]

  • L12 (Sierra)
  • L13 (Archive)
  • L14 ()
  • L15 (Mech)
  • L16 (Unknown)

All levels require power from sources in the sand levels (L12-L16).
