The Scanner is a Utility Equipment item integral to progressing the game. It is used to scan items in the environment, unlocking their associated technology when scanning Fragments or adding the item, or its constituent parts, to the players inventory.

Unlocking[]
The Scanner is unlocked as part of the main story progression. After unlocking T1 -> T2 of Production Terminal Lima, the player is instructed by Sparks to build a scanner. The unlocks the associated recipe in the players inventory.
