The Mining Drill extracts ore when placed up against an ore source. The drill uses physical fuels to run; the amount of fuel consumed varies depending on the fuel.
Obtaining[]
Unlocking[]
The Mining Drill is unlocked automatically by progressing the main story. After first exiting the starting area, the Groundbreaker will be prompted by Sparks to interact with the terminal at Production Terminal Lima. After exiting the terminal interface, the Groundbreaker is instructed to create several Mining Drills from their inventory, using some of the starting items found in the first small container.
Scannable Fragments of mining drills can be found in the game world - scanning them yields a full mining drill to the Groundbreakers inventory.

Usage[]
The Mining Drill is used exclusively in the mining of ores from ore patches. It is not able to mine all forms of ore patch - some more advanced ores require the 
Mining Drill MKII.

Upgrades[]
The drill can be upgraded in the tech tree to run faster, producing more ore per minute without changing fuel consumption. There are four upgrades available, increasing mining speed by 150% (terraforming - PT VICTOR - T2 - MDR Speed II), 250% (terraforming - PT VICTOR - T3 - MDR Speed III), 300% (terraforming - PT SIERRA - T4 - MDR Speed IV) and 400% (terraforming - PT SIERRA- T6 - MDR Speed V)
