Required to transfer items between Conveyor Belts, Machines and Storage Units. Slightly extended range.
Long Inserter's allowing for inserting and extracting items that are one block away, allowing for inserting and extracting goods from a machine across two parallel belts.

Unlocking[]
The Long Inserter requires the Long Inserter technology to be unlocked and researched before they can be constructed (logistics - PT LIMA - T3 - Long Inserter). Unlocking the technology requires scanning 2 Long Inserter Fragments with the 
Scanner. Fragments can first be found on Level 1 - Lima around the fragments of smelters and mining drills. Researching the technology requires 4 x 
Research Core 380nm (Purple)'s.

Usage[]
Long Inserter's have the same core functionality as other inserters, moving items from insertion/extraction slots on machines and containers and to/from conveyor belts. The work at a rate of 15 items/min, which is lower than normal Inserter's and, like them, do not require power to operate.
However, Long Inserter's are able to access items that are one block away. When you place two conveyor belts side by side, it takes items from the belt in the next block, not from the one in front of it.

Immediately outside of the cryogenic chamber starting area, a basic mining and smelting factory can be observed through the glass. This demonstrates the use of parallel belts and Long Inserter for supplying fuel (in the form of 
Biobrick) to both Drills and Smelters, as well as withdrawing their products. This area has a number of scannable Fragments of Long Inserters as well that can be obtained as soon as the Groundbreaker has unlocked the 
Mole.
