The smelter can be upgraded to produce more items per blast, though it's important to note that the Blast Smelter does not consume more than 1 mining charge per operation (12 sec per operation. (5 mining charges per min))
WARNING: The Blast Smelter uses all mining charges within its inventory per operation. (It can store up to 20 at a time.)
